Pencil, the Greatest Invention

If you have seen me paint live, you might have noticed that I "air draw" by moving fingers quickly across a blank sheet of paper as if I was drawing on it. Then I grab my favorite pencil to actually draw with it - or, follow the lines I already "air drew." A preliminary stage of painting, to me, is seeing the painting and drawing it. So, drawing is pretty much part of a painting. I don't believe drawing and painting are separate. I often use a drafting pencil (4B) for a preliminary drawing.
