Mexican Folk Dancer I

Several years ago, on a day of the Cinco de mayo celebration, I saw a Mexican folk dance called ballet folklorico for the first time.  When a mariachi band started playing, a group of women and men came up on the outdoor stage.  I was mesmerized by beautiful dresses of women dancers and how they graciously moved their full, colorful skirts.  Men dancers looked good, too, in their suits.  And how gentlemanly they escorted their lady partners made them look really good.

I can't remember all the details but there was a story (I think it was a cute love story) told in this dance.  I liked it so much that I would want to go to see ballet folklorico again whenever I have a chance.  My inspiration for this painting was the dancer's movement and colors.  I saw a "painting" when the whiteness of her blouse stood out against the cool colors in the background and her fiery red skirt.
