It seems like a cold winter front that descended from the Siberia is here to stay. In Japan, they call it, metaphorically, fuyu shogun (literally meaning winter-time shogun or chief military commander).
For someone like me who spends most of my time in the warm climate in San Diego, California, a freezing temperature is more than a surprise and I needed a couple of days to get used to it. Two days ago, there was a little snow falling. In this residential neighborhood in the suburbs of Kyoto, I captured a quiet moment on one winter afternoon.
