The land where the East meets the West… Istanbul has been the crossroads of cultures for many centuries.  For someone like me who grew up in the Far East and has been exposed to the western culture almost all my life, it is simply a fascinating place.

Bosphorus River that flows from the Black Sea runs through the city, and people in Istanbul often refer to one side as European and the other Asian in their conversations.  In fact, they may live on one side and go to work or school on the other; and they may cross one of the bridges or take a boat to do errands or go shopping on the other side.  Where else in the world can you have such an almost surreal experience?
